South Padre Island Photographers

Be aware of event planners that are trying to maximize there profits by calling themselves photographers.

Be aware of event planners that call themselves photographers. Owning an expensive camera doesn't make you a photographer.  Sadly to say there are quite a few people trying to pass themselves off as photographers these days that do not have any real photography skills past pushing the shutter button. Make sure you really look at the work that they display as examples.  Are there shadows behind the subjects from the flash, are the eye sockets dark, do they use depth of field correctly,  all these things make a difference on the end results to get you the images you deserve.  Don't compromise, you deserve quality images of your wedding day.

Getting a Marriage License for a South Padre Island wedding.

Cameron County Courthouse
Phone:956-544-0817

Where do you get a Marriage License?
A couple that intends to be married in Texas must apply in person for a marriage license at a Texas County Clerk’s Office. The application for a license must be signed by both the bride and the groom in the presence of the County Clerk. If this is not possible, any adult or one of the applicants may apply on behalf of the absent applicant. Certain terms must be met:

1. Applications must be filled out with Social Security numbers, proof of age, and identification shown (Certified Birth Certificate or Driver’s License)
2. A filing fee of $41.00 dollars in cash will be charged

How long must I wait between the time I get my License and the actual ceremony?
There must be at least 72 hours between the time of issuance of a license and the time the ceremony occurs unless one applicant is on active duty in the armed forces or a waiver is granted. A marriage license is valid for only 30 days, so with the 72 hour waiting period, there is only a 27 day period in which the marriage ceremony can take place.

What if I am under the age of 18? Can I still get married?

If you are 14 – 17 years of age, you can only get married if one of the following criteria is met:
(A) You have parental consent**
(B) You have been previously legally married, and the applicant provides a certified copy of divorce decree
(C) You obtain an order from the Texas District court where the parent resides
** Parental Consent must be evidenced by a written declaration on a form provided by the County Clerk.

Legal Requirements
Couples are responsible for obtaining a valid marriage license from the State of Texas, with both the bride and groom present. There is a 72-hour waiting period from the time the license is issued. Texas does not require blood tests or other medical records. License is good for 31 days, anywhere in Texas. Check with your home state about its requirements for a blood test, license, and other documents. (Note that a marriage license from your home state may not be valid for a ceremony performed in another state, territory or country. A marriage performed in another state may not be recognized by your home state, unless specific requirements are met.)

Bring identification (each person): certified copy of birth certificate; or valid driver's license or other acceptable I.D. issued by the state, another state, the United States, or a foreign government.

Either bring your Social Security card or know your Social Security number.

Bring cash for the license fee ($30 to $40).

Both bride and groom must go in person. If your divorce was finalized within 30 days, bring certified copy of the divorce decree stating the 30 day waiting period is waived.

If you want to use your maiden name on the license bring a certified copy of your birth certificate or a certified copy of your divorce decree that states name is to be changed to maiden name.

The bride and groom must each be 18 years of age to apply for a marriage license without parental consent.

There are no residency requirements. The marriage license is valid anywhere in the state of Texas.

A Divorce degree or death certificate is not required, but a license cannot be obtained before 30 days have passed since a divorce or death.

License must be signed by the wedding officiate, as well as by witnesses. You'll need copies to change your marital status with insurance companies, the Internal Revenue Service, financial institutions and Social Security.

Special assistance for out of state couples may be obtained by calling the Cameron County Court house 956-544-0817 ask for Erica.

The permit informs all interested parties of the wedding details, helps ensure your wedding does not restrict the use of the beach to others, and provides you with state and local beach rules and laws. Family Beach Portraits
What should one expect at the photo session?

Now that you have picked the day and what to wear, it is time for the photo session to begin.  First, be prepared to spend up to about two hours for the session.  In most cases, it takes less time, but make sure to bring plenty of water and towels.  Once everyone is at the location, it is time to start posing.  My job as the photographer is to scope out the best spot for everyone to sit or stand.  Possible sites include dunes, waters edge,  rock jetties or standing in front of a landmark, such as a pier or lighthouse.  Once everyone is in position, I will be snapping a few test shots to make sure that everything is technically right.  Then it’s time to get the shots.  I will snap quite a few shots of the same pose to insure a wide option of choices, so if you blink or sneeze, or forget to smile, that one shot won’t ruin the whole bunch.  After the large family shots are done, it’s time to get individual shots and smaller groups.
My goal as a photographer is to make sure your Family Portrait Session is a fun and stress free experience.  By following these few guidelines, you and your family can enjoy your Beach Vacation memories for a lifetime.

Thanks, and I hope to see you on the beach.

Clothing Plan for Beach Portraits

CLOTHING MATTERS!
White looks great on everyone against the gorgeous white sand of South Padre Island.

IT IS YOUR CHOICE:
All White, White and Khaki, or White and Blue Jeans.
Or, be original and choose your own favorite color!

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO;
Coordinate your familie's clothing.
Stay with SOLIDS.
Feel good!

IT IS BEST TO ;
Wear tops with sleeves.

LADIES LOOK GREAT IN;
White dresses,
or long, white flowing beach skirts and tops, or white tops and khaki capris.
For ladies with fabulous legs; you go girl, wear shorts.
NO LOTION! (The  sand will stick to you and make you look like a chicken picata!)
DO wear jewelry that you love!

GENTLEMEN;
A white dress shirt or polo (T- shirts don't look that great) and nice jeans or ironed khakis. Pants look way better than shorts!

  GLASSES;
We will create images with and without glasses.

HAIR;
Don't worry when the gulf breezes blow,
Everyone's hair looks fabulous in the natural setting!
OK, I'm kidding, but the hair does look great.
However, we might have to tame it with some bobbie pins and a little Photoshop technique
Your responsibility is to keep hair OUT of your and your children's FACES!

RETOUCHING;
The Retouching of your portraits is included.
Your final portrait will represent THE BEST of you and your family. Small details such as blemishes are not even an issue.
Background clutter  (as in those annoying other beachgoers) will be eliminated.

A FINAL PIECE OF ADVICE;
TELL, don't ask your family to participate in your FAMILY BEACH PORTRAIT.
This will be a fun time that you will spend together!
Everyone will love it.
It is about memories.
It is about fun.
It is about FAMILY!
